Testing and Assessment FAQs
What tests are required as part of the program?
Students who are enrolled in New Mexico Virtual Academy are required to take the following tests:
- K12 lesson assessments
- K12 unit assessments
- New Mexico Statewide Articulated Assessment Program (NMSBA) in reading, math, writing, and science in grades 3-8
- New Mexico High School Standards Assessment (NMHSSA) in reading, math, writing, science, and social studies in grade 11
- New Mexico High School Competency Examination (NMHSCE) in reading, math, writing, science, and social studies in grade 10, and in grades 11 and 12 for students who have not yet passed all sections of the test. High school students must pass all sections of the NMHSCE in order to graduate.
Do I have to participate in state testing?
Families enrolling at NMVA must be willing to participate in all required areas of the program.
